2016 Rio Olympics; South Africa Referee makes list to officiate

South African Wrestling Referee, Charles Villet has been selected to officiate wrestling matches at the Olympic Games.

In a statement available on the South Africa Wrestling website,  the federation said they are all proud to announce that Mr. Villet’s dream is about to become a reality.

The statement added that Charles received the news of his inclusion into the prestigious group, when United World Wrestling announced their panel of referees for the 2016 Olympic Games.

He will be joining 34 other referees from around the world at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games next year (Four African Referees inclusive).

It said that his is one of the single greatest honors to befall a referee and they would all like to congratulate this remarkable man on this incredible achievement.

Charles Villet has been ranked amongst the top 40 Category IS referees in the world by United World Wrestling.

It will be recalled that Charles was appointed Neutral Referee in charge at the 11th African Games to be held in Brazzaville Congo in September this year.
