Nigeria Female Judoka, Franca Audu (52Kg) said the federation does not have any chance of qualifying for the upcoming Olympics scheduled for Brazil from 5th-21th August, 2015.
The 2015 Bronze medalist at the All Africa Games said failed to participate in World Championships that would have earned the nation points.
She added that the team had not attended African championships and world championships were they will hit their points that will qualify Judokas for the Olympic Games.
In her words “To be honest with you, Nigeria judokas don’t have any chance in the upcoming Olympic games, so let’s just forget it”.
“Our major normal routine is from African games to African games. When people are busy attending African championships and world championships to hit their points that will qualify them for the games. With the situation at hand I don’t know what Nigerian judo’s prospect is. I mean No offence” she said.
She advised the National Sports Commission as well as the ministry of youth and sports to wade into the current situation faced by the Judo Federation.
Nigeria Judo Federation at the 2015 All Africa Games won 3 bronze medals all coming from the female athletes; Fatima Bashir (48Kg), Franca Audu (52Kg) and Rita Ebere (78Kg)
