Africa Championship; Aminat reclaims lost Africa title, eyes Olympic appearance

2014 Commonwealth Gold medalist, Aminat Adeniyi (63Kg) on Saturday night won Gold for team Nigeria after defeating Egyptian’s Amina Elsebaee at the 2016 Africa Championship taking place in Alexandra, Egypt.

The Ondo born wrestler is planning to join her compatriot Odunayo Adekuoroye at the 2016 Rio Olympics scheduled for Brazil.

It will be recalled that Aminat at the last Africa Championship won a bronze medal after she fell to the claws of Tunisia’s Marwa Amri wrestled Nwoye Ifeoma at the ongoing Championship.

The 2015 All Africa Games Gold medalist said she will not rest until she makes her first appearance at the Olympics.

Blessing Oborududu is the only Olympian in the female squad.
