Aftermath Africa Championship; NOC Women and Sports lauds Nigeria Female Wrestlers

Chairperson, National Olympic Committee (NOC) Women and Sport Commission, Mary Onyali has commended the nation’s female wrestling team for their feat at the just concluded Africa senior wrestling championship.

Onyali who led other members of the committee to receive the wrestlers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, called for more coverage and exposure of female athletes to attract more women to sports.

The Nigeria Female wrestling team won three gold, two silver and a bronze medal to win the female team title.

She said the performance of the wrestlers have once again proved that women are at the fore front of winning medals for Nigeria at international championship.

The chairperson who praised the president Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon Daniel Igali for investing more in the female wrestler said she is full of confident that they will make the nation proud at subsequent tournament.

Onyali lauded seven times Africa Champion, Blessing Oborududu for stamping her dominance on the continent urging her to replicate such form at the Olympic qualifier in Algiers.

She also applauded the consistency of Odunayo Adekuoroye appealing to stakeholders to support her in the quest to win Nigeria first medal in the wrestling event.

The chairperson of the commission, Mary Onyali was accompanied by Reverend Kunbi Odukola and other top dignitaries.
