2016 Africa Cadet Championship; South Africa Wrestling trials slated for Saturday

South Africa National Team trials for cadets and junior wrestlers will hold on 19th March, 2016 (Saturday) at the Proteaville recreation center, Cape Town.

The Africa Junior Wrestling championship is slated for Yaoundé, Cameroon from 16th-19th June, 2016.

According to Jeannie Coetser (a senior female wrestler), the trial is to select Greco Roman and freestyle wrestler who will hoist the nation’s flag in Yaoundé, where if they win medals will qualify for the World Junior Wrestling Championship.

It will be recalled that Jeannie  Coetser (60Kg), won a bronze medasl at the 2016 Africa Championship held in Alexandra, Egypt.

Cape Town has many of South Africa’s top wrestlers, where you will find wrestlers specializing in Greco Roman wrestling and also many female wrestlers

The senior team in January held it trials and produced a team that won 8 medals at the Africa Senior Championship held in Egypt.

It is worthy of note that Cape Town is very far to travel for the other provinces in South Africa, but each province gets a turn to host a national competition or national championship.
