Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Kwete Annual Festival, Gregory Murrey said Adamawa state will be hosting the biggest traditional wrestling festival in Nigeria.
Murrey said the Bachama Traditional Council had received official communication from the governor to personally grace the festival slated for 17th -19th March, 2016.
This will hold at the Lamurde the cultural headquarters of the Bachama Kingdom.
The Kwete annual festival is a cultural and wrestling event with secular and sacred importance attached to it.
The festival is primarily organised to mark the end of the cropping and harvest season, and also enables the paramount ruler, the Hama Bachama, to make royal pronouncement of the new farming season.
According to the organizers, this year’s event will witness Bwatiye Women Cultural Exhibition, archery, dances and traditional songs.
Its wrestling contest has always been the biggest side attraction to the festival, pulling tremendous crowds of visitors from within and outside Nigeria, according to Murrey.
