2016 Nigeria Police Games: Buhari says he will continue to encourage sportsmen and women

President Muhammadu Buhari said his administration will continue to encourage and develop sports adding that it remains an integral organ of his administration.

Buhari stated this in Abuja at the opening of the 11th biennial Police Games at the main bowl of the National Stadium.

Represented by FCT Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, Buhari described sports as the driving force of the country’s unity and oneness noting  that it is a tool of uniting people irrespective of their religion, tribe and region.

Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Christian Ohaa, said that the government would encourage organisations in the development of sports at the grassroots.

Dalung urged participants to ensure that the games achieved its full potential of identifying and nurturing officer and men that would represent the country at international competitions.

On his part, Solomon Arase, the Inspector General of Police said that the 11th biennial Police Games provided an opportunity for the police to discover world beaters in sports.
