Nigeria weightlifter sponsor’s self to AAU Championship

Nigeria Weightlifter, Tanimowo Rasaq

Nigeria’s Rasaq Tanimowo will participate at the 2016 AAU North American Power lifting, Bench, Deadlift, Push/Pull and Strict Curl Championship.

The competition will hold from April 8 to April 10 in the United States, Harrah’s Hotel Casino Ballrooms and Rio Vista Amphitheater, Laughlin NV.

Tanimowo who left the shores of the country yesterday will represent a US based weightlifting during the tourney.

The Asaba based weightlifter was able to raise funds as he starved himself for months and was supported by family and friends

Tanimowo after the championship will set his eyes on the Africa Olympics Qualifier scheduled to hold in Cameroon from May 12–20, 2016.

He placed sixth (6th) at the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow, Scotland.

He also won two silver medals in weightlifting while representing Nigeria at the 2015 All-Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville

It will be recalled that Tanimowo won a gold medal at the 2011 Commonwealth Junior Weightlifting Championship.
