2016 AAU Championship; Pray for me, Tanimowo tells Nigerians

Tanimowo Rasaq will on Saturday begin his quest for a successful outing at the 2016 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Championship.

Tanimowo is the only Nigeria participating at the international weightlifting championship scheduled for the United States from 8th -10th April, 2016.

The weightlifter who is self sponsored ought to represent a US based club but due to the love for the country opted to make Nigeria proud in the championship.

“All I need from Nigerians is prayers because I have done my part by training and sourcing for funds. What remains now is the favor of God’, said Tanimowo.

He assured Nigerians of an excellent performance promising not to disappoint those who believes in him.

He added that there is urgent need to invest in other sports as athletes who participating are getting discourage with the football syndrome.

“In US here, it as if weightlifting is the only sport as individuals and corporate bodies invested heavily in the championship”, He said.

It will be recalled that Tanimowo won two silver medals in weightlifting while representing Nigeria at the 2015 All-Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville
