National Open will be used to select athletes for Africa Championship says Chief Donatus Agu

Over 300 karate athletes will participate at the National senior Open Karate Championship slated for Asaba, Delta state from 11th to 16th April, 2016.

It will be recalled that the competition was scheduled to take place in Delta, Asaba between March 20th and 24 but was postponed due to the lack of funds.

President Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), Chief Donatus Agu – Ejidike said the open will be used to select athletes that will represent Nigeria at the forthcoming African Karate Championship.

Chief Donatus Agu who doubles as the chairman Kogi Karate association added that after the championship in Asaba, the federation will be in Lokoja for developmental programs to discover talents in the North Central.

He urged the minister of sports, Barr. Solomon Dalung to pay more attention to combat sports

The programme will begin with Coaches and Referees courses from April 11 – 13, while the championship will hold from April 14 – 16.
