50 polytechnics expected for 2016 NIPOSSGA competition in Kaduna

No fewer than 1,500 members of staff of 50 Federal and State Polytechnics will participate in the 18th Nigerian Polytechnics Senior Staff Games (NIPOSSGA) in Kaduna.

The Executive Secretary, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Masud Kazaure made this known while addressing newsmen in Kaduna.

Kazaure, who was represented by the Director of Physical Planning, NBTE, Ekpeyong Edet, said the Games aimed at providing the senior staff opportunity to exercise their body for mental growth.

He said 12 sports would feature in the Games scheduled for April 30 to May 7 at various venues on the main campus of Kaduna Polytechnic.

The NBTE executive secretary listed the sports as football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, scrabble and draught, tennis, darts, Ayo, monopoly and ludo.

Also speaking, the Rector, Kaduna Polytechnic, Mohammed Ibrahim, said the institution would host the Games for the second time after hosting its first edition 30 years ago.

Ibrahim assured that adequate arrangements had been made for the security of participants and other stakeholders during the Games.

The Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Games, Shehu Adamu said facilities for the Games “were in sparkling condition and ready for the event.
