21 karate-kas will represent Nigeria at the forthcoming 16th African Junior/Senior Karate Championships in Durban, South Africa says the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN)
The championship will take place from July 15 to July 17 in Durban, South Africa.
President, Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike in Ilorin said 10 female, 11 male athletes and 2 officials were selected at the National Championships/Coaching and Referees Course that took place from April 11 to April 16 in Delta.
Agu-Ejidike said the athletes and officials were chosen due to the outstanding performance expressing confidence that the country will excel in South Africa
The president who also doubles as the Nigerian Pillar of Sports, appealed to corporate organisations to assist the federation to achieve its target of exposing athletes to continental and international tournaments.
He added that the karatekas would continue to train ahead of the championships in July, to ensure a good outing.
It will be recalled that the championships,was originally scheduled for Libreville, Gabon in April, but was shifted to Durban, South Africa due to logistics reasons.
