President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Daniel Igali has expressed dissatisfaction over the denial of visa to Blessing Onyebuchi (75Kg) to attend the final Olympic qualifiers in Istanbul, Turkey.
Igali said he will send a strongly worded protest letter to the International Olympic Committee regarding the Olympic disenfranchisement.
In a chat with naijacombatcorner, Igali disclosed that he spent two days at the Turkish embassy trying to secure a visas for onyebuchi and Head coach NWF, Victor Kodei.
“ I am just leaving the Turkish Embassy in Abuja after two days (Wednesday and Thursday) of trying to get visas for Onyebuchi Blessing, 75kg female wrestler and coach Victor Kodei who were scheduled to attend the last Olympic wrestling qualifying tournament in Istanbul from May 6 to May 8.
This has sadly brought an end all the efforts of an athlete who worked so hard for an opportunity to attempt to qualify for the Olympics and become an Olympian for her country.
“That Turkey of all countries can deny visa to Nigerian athletes after fulfilling all laid down protocols. It is humiliating.
“ I will be sending a strongly worded protest letter to the International Olympic Committee regarding this Olympic disenfranchisement,” the NWF president said.
