The Minister for Youth and Sports Development Solomon Dalung has commended the National Lottery Trust Fund for its distribution of sports equipment to 2000 public primary schools in the country.
Dalung gave the commendation at the weekend at the Musa Yar’adua Centre Abuja, during the presentation of the equipment by the National Lottery Trust Fund.
On the occasion, the minister urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the equipment were put to good use, emphasizing the need for the equipment to be directed to and put to use by those it was meant for.
He noted that Nigerians must develop structures that would transcend beyond zonal levels and to where the equipment will be distributed.
He who urged head teachers and games Masters to use the equipment as national assets and not as government property appealed to resist the temptation to conspire to pilfer and sell them in the open market.
Earlier, the chief executive of the National Lottery Trust Fund, Engr Habu Gumel explained that through a comprehensive survey and consultation with stakeholders, 2000 primary schools including special schools for the physically challenged, spread across the six geo-political zones in the country will benefit from the distribution of the equipment in line with the Federal government directive for the programme.
