Imo state has concluded plans to host the South-East Taekwondo Championships, naijacombatcorner reports.
According to the chairman, Imo State Taekwondo Association, Ferguson Oluigbo said the competition would hold between 28-30th June at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo.
He said that the five eastern states consisting of hosts Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi, are expected to participate adding that they would compete in Poomsae and Kyorugi events.
Ferguson told naijacombatcorner in a telephone chat that the body took the initiative to reactivate the zonal competition to ascertain athletes and coaches current form.
According to him, participants will be grouped into three categories comprising kids, youths and adults and each will feature in Poomsae and Kyorugi as demonstration and fight.
He said the zonal championships were necessary to ascertain the current standard of coaches and players in relation to current rules and regulations of the sport.
Oluigbo said that the two-day competition would provide a preparation ground for athletes who aspire to excel at the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival and international tournaments.
