Republic of Benin place 3rd at Zaniab Female Karate Championship

Republic of Benin placed 3rd position at the 3rd edition of Hajiya Zainab Saleh, Female Open Karate Championship held last weekend at the Molade Okoya-Thomas indoor sports hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos last weekend.

Republic of Benin who was the only participating foreign country won 1 gold and 1 silver.

Asone Rita won gold in the senior Female Kumite (+68Kg) while Ekeh confidence won silver in the -55Kg as she was defeated by  Nigeria’s Ogunsanwo Aderonke.

Anambra state topped the medals table with five Gold, five silver and seven bronze medals to amass seventeen medals while Delta state clinched the second position with three Gold and one bronze medals.

The Chairman, National Technical Committee for KARATE FEDERATION OF NIGERIA, Micklem Emechete-Attoh congratulated Benin Republic Champion, Asone Rita for making her country proud.

HE also congratulated Federation Beninoise de Karate-Do, Sensei Rock Quenum for the beautiful performance of his squad urging them to always attend invitational tournament organized by Nigeria.

He urged neighboring countries like Ghana and Togo not to miss out of such tournament organized by Nigeria.
