Road to Rio; Aminat defeats World No 2 at Spanish Grand Prix

Team Nigeria female wrestler, Aminat Adeniyi defeated World number 2, Johanna Mattsson (SWE) in the 58kg to win Bronze medal at the just concluded Spanish Grand Prix Wrestling championship in Madrid.

The 2014 commonwealth gold medalist beat Mattson 4-3 to win bronze at the championship.

Earlier, the Africa champion in repechage won Mimi Hristova(Bulgaria) by pinfall.

Russia’s Natalia Golts in the round 8 narrowly saw off by 3-4.

In the 58Kg, Valeriia Koblova of Russia who saw off Aminat and Marwa Anri of Tunsia won Gold and Silver and respectively while Natalia Golts of Russia also won the bronze apart from Aminat.

Mattsson (SWE)

It will be recalled that world number 19 Marwa Anri (TUN) at the Africa/Oceanic Olympic Games qualifying tournament 2016, won Aminat by technical fall 10-0 points.
