WRESTLING; Oborududu breaks into top 10 in Pre-Olympic Women’s Rankings

Seven times (7x) African champion, Blessing Oborududu (63Kg) went from unranked to number 9 in the world.

Naijacombatcorner recalls that Oborududu at the Spanish grand prix held in Madrid in July, won a silver medal after losing 1 – 1 to Belarus Maryia Mamashuk (BLR) by criteria in the finals.

The 2014 commonwealth bronze medalist en-route the final, saw off Swedish Henna Johansson in the semi finals by 15-0 points, and Yekaterina Larionova (KAZ) in the quarter finals by 11-0.

Oborududu who doubles as the female wrestling captain led five other wrestlers to a successful outing at the 2016 Senior African Wrestling Championship winning a total of 3 goldm 2 silver  and 1 bronze medals.

The female team also emerge best female team in Alexandria.

The Bayelsa born wrestler will be making her second appearance at the Olympics with the hope of winning any medal color.

It is worthy to note that oborududu at the 11th All Africa Games broke a national record set by her coach (Tangi Oyinbrakemi) who set a record in her weight category.
