Olympics; Ghanaian Judoka to compete on Tuesday

Hungarian-born Ghanaian, Szandra Szogedi (-63Kg) will be on the mat on Tuesday, 6th August, 2016.

Africa bronze medalist will compete with the likes of Slovenia’s first and reigning world champion Tina Trstenjak, Urska Zolnir and former world champion Clarisse Agbegnenou (FRA).

Others are Havana Grand Prix winner Yarden Gerbi (ISR) who won Israel’s first World Championship gold medal when she took first place in 2013 in Rio de Janeiro.

Gerbiwas last on the podium in January in Cuba having finished fifth at the Dusseldorf Grand Prix, European Championships and Baku Grand Slam in her last three events.

Szandra got her slot in the Olympic Games at the Almaty Judo Grand Prix event in Kazakhstan where she clocked 444 points.

Szandra is Ghana’s first-ever female judoka participating in the Games

Szandra plans to put Ghana in the history book of the Olympics games.
