Olympics; Kenya and Mauritius Boxers enter next round

Kenya’s light flyweight boxer, Peter Mungai Warui beat China’s Lu Bin during the Men’s Light Fly (46-49kg) match at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the Riocentro – Pavilion 6 in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.

And the other resulted from an intra-continental bout, meaning that an African was guaranteed to get through.

In the heavyweight category Mauritius’ Kennedy St-Pierre beat Algeria’s Chouaib Bouloudinats.

However, here are the African boxers who didn’t do so well last night in Rio.

Tunisia’s heavyweight boxer Hassen Chaktami lost to Italy’s Clemente Russo and was eliminated

Light flyweight mathias hamunyela from Namibia lost to Kazakhstan’s Birzhan Zhakypov and is not going through to the quarter finals

Egypt’s Walid Mohamed lost in the welterweight category to Great Britain’s Joshua Kelly and also won’t be going through to the quarter finals
