Taekwondo: Alfaga Abdoulrazak creates history for Niger in Rio

Issoufou Alfaga Abdoulrazak has become the second athlete to win an Olympic medal for Niger Republic.

The 2015 All Africa Games gold medalist in the +80 category defeated Azerbaijan’s third seed, Radik Isaev to win Bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The 21 years old produced the best season of his career making it the second Olympic medal for Niger after Boxer Issaka Dabore won Bronze in 1972 in Munich.

It will be recalled that Abdoulrazak lost in the final of the second 2016 Olympic qualifier to Tunisian Trabelsi Yacine, later winning tournaments in Luxor, Egypt, Belgium achieving this feat at the age of 21, making it the best season of his career.

The winner of the All Africa Games in 2015 was scheduled for 2020 in Tokyo’s German coach Markus Kohlöffel officiating in the prestigious club of the TCC Friedrichshafen.
